This 3D medical animation depicts cardiac tamponade relieved by fluid aspiration with a needle (pericardiocentesis). The heart is seen struggling to beat as the amount of fluid filling the pericardial sac around the heart increases. Following the removal of the fluid from the sac, the heart beats normally.
