Total Hip Replacement (Abbreviated Version) - Medical Animation

This 3D medical animation depicts a minimally invasive direct anterior total hip replacement (THR) of the right hip. This procedure is usually done when severe damage from arthritis or injury has made it difficult to perform daily activities without severe pain or restricted range of motion. A THR may include the use of a specialized table and fluoroscopy machine. The incision, exposure of the hip joint, placement of the acetabular hip prosthetic component (socket), removal of the arthritic femoral head, and placement of the femoral head prosthesis (ball) are also demonstrated.
